We chose this pub bed and breakfast in the countryside for an overnight stay as it was 20 minutes away from Brittany Ferry Terminal in Plymouth. The pub is unpretentious and in the centre of village of Ivybridge. However when you enter it is a real surprise as it has had a modern and subtle makeover with quirky finishing touches such as trompe l'oeil.Ben was kind enough to inform us the day before that there was works being carried out on drainage pipes in street outside hotel and relocated us to cabins at back of pub to ensure we had a water supply.Ben also cooked a wonderful cooked breakfast with vegetarian option the following morning proving his culinary skills as a former chef We paid £80 for bed and breakfast for all round quality

The breakfast was good. I had both the vegetarian and the full English on different mornings. The vegetarian was good but a bit deep fried for me because of the type of veggie sausage used and hash browns, I did ask for a swap but for some reason it wasn't forthcoming, Sunday morning, maybe the morning after the night before. The full English was bang on with a swap for tomatoes instead of hash browns. Had the Sunday roast. That I highly recommend, good portions, tasty and well cooked.

It was an old building ( certainly at least Georgian) with character, although our bedroom was in motel style bedrooms behind the pub. The bar and dining room were pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful, although on Wednesdays the chef has a day off so no evening food is served. AS others have said the breakfasts were excellent. We had a very generous full English, cooked to order and served nicely. They coped with one gluten free guest well.. So the breakfast was the highlight

Christopher

We had stayed once before and had no hesitation in returning. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice. We ate twice in the restaurant and the food was very good value for money and good quality. Unlike last time, our room was in one of the outside chalets. It was a large space, which was good. The bar was often busy with locals, which made for a great atmosphere. Our manager was totally attentive, with nothing too much trouble - a great asset to the establishment.

Roger

Room was exceptional, with incredible curved wall of inset pebbles in bathroom (which would have taken very high skill to create). trompe-de l'oeil 'wardrobe', nice shelving, comfortable bed, window seat, good size. The breakfast was superb, well above average standard. Staff were extremely cheerful and helpful. Lots of nice artwork, and great old photos. Beautiful quiet village setting.
